It all began when I reached my earning potential, and still had four people to support. The kids were in high school (and becoming more expensive) so I began taking accelerated college courses in accounting, while working full time. Two and a half years later I had my degree. I had been going to classes for five hours every Friday evening, and eight hours every Saturday. Week nights and Sundays were reserved for studying.
During that time I met an AccPac (a high-end accounting package) installer who had clients in need of part-time bookkeeping services. I picked up a few side jobs from her. After I became AccPac-certified myself, she turned over all of clients to me. Word spread, and before I knew it, I had a going business.
That was fifteen years ago.
I’ve been building a list of satisfied customers ever since. I am detail-oriented (some would say anal) so bookkeeping suits me to a tee. I specialize in setting up small businesses with suitable accounting packages, and then training in-house personnel to make the day to day entries. In some cases I continue to do month end closings, and prepare financials for CPA review.
I enjoy what I do, and I do it well. Some of my clients have been with me for over ten years. I continue to serve them either in person or over the web whether in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, or California.
